(10.10.09) In the wake of Typhoon Pepeng (international name Parma) the UCCP Northern Luzon Jurisdiction is preparing packages for 400 families. Pepeng lingered within the Philippines for ten days, causing floods and landslides in Cordillera, and the lowland provinces of Nueva Ecija and Pangasinan.
An additional almost 700 relief packages were distributed this week for those affected by the Typhoon Ondoy (international name Ketsana). The Conference Minister in the area is in shock as he and his relatives have been severely affected by floods brought by Typhoon Ondoy. They are staying with other evacuees in Rizal Elementary School.
Since 26 September, the UCCP has released a total of Philippine Peso 2.1 Million (31,000 Euro) in relief packages for more than 5,000 families. The church plans to distribute more packages for those affected in Northern Luzon. An additional 10,000 packs are needed for families in the lakeside villages of Laguna de Bay including the eastern sections of Metro Manila.
