As to official declarations the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo is over. But the situation is far from being good. The people return back to thier villages hesitantly. What they find there is hard to believe, everything is lacking. The people living in the remote areas of the jungle can only dream of a proper health care system.
Many children die, many others are ill because there is no medical help. Where no one else supports the people, the churches do. Our member churches in the DR Congo rebuild local health care centers to help those who cannot afford more than one Euro for any medical treatment. That is why support from other countries is desperately needed.
Especially in the rain forest, where there are no streets, the distances are long - sometimes too long for ill people.Especially in the rain forest, where there are no streets, the distances are long - sometimes too long for ill people. This is where church workers take on the exhausting journeys to help people even in the remotest areas.
In this regard a project initiated by the German Church Circuit of Dortmund-South brings new hope: an ambulance boat, equipped with everything a swimming hospital needs. This boat could soon reach villages which had no access to health care at all.
