Expelled by their own parents

Volunteers care for the "child witches" of Kinshasa

Zehntausende Kinder leben ins Kongos Hauptstadt Kinshasa auf der Straße.
Thousands of children in Kinshasa have to live on the streets.

In Kinshasa, the capital of the DR Congo, thousands of children live on the streets, some of them being only five years old. Several of these children are called "child witches":Their parents think their children are responsible for diseases and catastrophes in a supernatural way and have expelled them from home.

Kinshasa - a chaotic city

For years the people in Kinshasa have been living in chaotic circumstances. Refugees from all parts of the huge, war-ridden country come into the city. there are hardly any governmental structures and the slums grow and grow. The believe in occultism and witchcraft rises and the children have to bear the burden: They are accused of being witches and bring ill luck to everyone who is in contact with them.

Volunteers help - Please help as well!

Since 2010 we have been qualifying volunteers from different congregations to care for these children. They look after them and try to get in contact with their families in order to convince them to reaccept their children. With the help of your donation we can support this work and offer e.g. school and training vacancies to the "child witches" of Kinshasa.
