The United Evangelical Mission

Communion of Churches in three Continents

is seeking for its member church, the Methodist Church of Sri Lanka,

a Theologian (male or female)

The Methodist Church, together with other Protestant churches, maintains a theological training centre in Pilimatalawa near Kandy (www.tclsl.org). This was founded in 1963 by the Methodist, Baptist, Anglican and Presbyterian Churches in Sri Lanka, for the basic, further and advanced training of their pastors. The vast majority of Sri Lanka’s pastors are trained here. It now plans to offer a post-graduate programme. For this reason, the Methodist Church is requesting the assignment of an ordained theologian holding a PhD in Old Testament in order to teach Old Testament subjects.

We are seeking a person, who, alongside theological qualifications, also has parish work experience. He or she should have an excellent command of English and be prepared to learn Singhalese/Tamil.

Our member church expects employees to be prepared to work in an internationally composed staff and to integrate into the work and life of the parishes and church in Sri Lanka.

The appointment will be for a period of up to three years, with the possibility of extension.

Owing to the current security situation in the country, only individuals or couples with overseas experience can be posted at present.
