The bloody conflicts between the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and the Sri Lankan army rendered hundreds of thousands people homeless in the North and East of Sri Lanka in the past months.
One of the biggest refugee camps is situated in Batticaloa. Non-government organisations and churches provide the internally displaced people with food, shelter and other vitally important goods.
The Methodist Church of Sri Lanka (MC-SL) plays an important part in helping the refugees, most of all providing food.
The video was recorded in March when Kristin Jäger and Birgit Pfeiffer of the United Evangelical Mission visited the camp together with Johann Perera, the project officer of the Methodist Relief and Development Services of the MC-SL, who co-ordinate the refugee aid of the MC-SL.
