How are decisions made?
The »United Evangelical Mission« has member churches in Germany, Africa and Asia. Although the members in Germany continue to provide most of the funding, each partner has an equal say in deciding how the funds are used. All important decisions are made within the international UEM decision-making bodies.
As the UEM is a highly complex network of churches in three continents, decisions must be taken on various levels.
Regional Assemblies of Africa, Asia and Germany
All member churches have delegates in the decision making bodies of their respective regions: the »Regional Assemblies« of Africa, Asia and Germany. The delegates of those Regional Assemblies decide regional UEM policies and appoint representatives to take part in the General Assembly (GA).
General Assembly
The GA takes place every four years and is the most important decision making body of the UEM. The GA designates nine representatives from each region to the Council of the UEM.
Council
The Council of the UEM meets once a year, taking up the decisions of the General Assembly. The Council elects the Executive Committee.
Executive Committee
The »ExCom« has five members: the Moderator, the two Vice Moderators, the General Secretary and one other member.
The ExCom meets three times a year and communicates its decisions to the executive staff of the UEM who are in charge of the daily work.
