- Pfarrer Wolfgang Marquardt has worked six years for UEM in West-Papua.
In Wuppertal and Bielefeld, Dar es Salaam and Medan, and many other places in the world, our staff is hard at work. And the tasks to be done are as diverse as the worksites. At our head office in Wuppertal administrators, theologians, and other expert staff work together hand in hand – and the same is true for our regional offices in Africa and Asia. We also send pastors, administrative experts, peacekeeping experts, and other staff to our member churches in the Southern Hemisphere – and staff from the South also visit our German member churches.
Our vacancies
- PhD in economics or management
- Professional experience of some years of teaching at a university
- Ecumenical and international experience
- Excellent command of the French and English language
- Adequate theological education, ideally with focus on mission and ecumenical issues
- Knowledge of the contemporary churches’ mission and development work
- Proven management and leadership skills
- Good overall and intercultural communication competency
- Willingness to travel frequently
- Fluency in English and capacity to learn German quickly

Lecturer on Economics or Management
The ULPGL is a centre of education run jointly by the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) churches, founded at the initiative of the Baptist Church in the Centre of Africa (CBCA) as UEM member church in 1985. The intention of the project was to establish a university standard theological institution and to train pastors and theologians for their future work in churches experiencing a shortage of qualified pastors and other clergy. Transforming the Institute into a theological faculty and opening faculties for law and economics created a Protestant University in the region with a student population of several hundred.
The faculty of Economics and Management was established in 1999. The objectives are to equip the students with necessary qualification for running local self supporting development initiatives and to assure a training which enables men and women to establish own enterprises.

Qualification
The appointment will be for a period of three years with the possibility of extension.

Executive Secretary for Training & Empowerment
The holder of this position works as a head of department and member of the Management Team. The Department of Training & Empowerment facilitates education, training and capacity building for its members, especially in promoting leadership and management skills, in providing scholarships and in organising women and youth programmes as well as the exchange of volunteers.
The term of service is for four years, with possibility for renewal. The office is located in Wuppertal, Germany.
Qualifications:
Experience in training adults will be an added advantage
