From 16 to 22 May, employees of the UEM regional office in Dar-es-Salaam (Tanzania) distributed water containers, soap and disinfectants to the communities to support them in their fight against the corona virus which is rampant worldwide. UEM is an important and reliable partner for the communities in their efforts to stem the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic.

With this goal in mind, the Regional Office Africa first identified various places, institutions and people who are usually overlooked or not given preferential treatment in the course of the application of prevention measures, such as prisons or publicly accessible areas such as ferries, ambulances, but also motorbike taxi drivers, as well as communities in remote areas and poor families.

In a second step, the Regional Office contributed to the support of three community service stations and provided 20 hand-washing facilities, including soap, disinfectants and masks. In addition, the office provided a number of families in need with urgently needed food. The motorbike taxi drivers expressed their gratitude that they were not forgotten and that they now have the opportunity to effectively protect themselves from the contagious Covid 19 virus during taxi operations.
