In the field of peacebuilding, the UEM recently published the outcome of the International Interreligious Peace Conference in Zanzibar in September 2019 in a book. This publication has now been presented at an interreligious press conference in Zanzibar (Tanzania) on September 28, 2020, one year after the conference.
Participants in the panel discussion with the attending press representatives were Pastor Paul Mtumi for the inter-religious center in Zanzibar "Zanzic", Pastor Rose Mhoza for the Anglican Church, Pater Isidore for the Catholic Church, Prof. Issa Ziddy for the Muslim community and Pastor Dr. Kambale Kabongya for the UEM. The event was moderated by Rev. Shukuru Maloda from the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania.
The fact that interreligious dialogue can be conducted at different levels was demonstrated by the subsequent soccer match between the Catholic and Anglican teams. The result suited the event - the game ended 1:1.
After the match, Pastor Dr. Kambale Kahongya thanked the two teams and informed the participants about the forthcoming opening of the next human rights campaign of UEM, which is aimed against discrimination and exclusion. The young people in Zanzibar have already signalled their intention to participate in the campaign with two activities, namely an inter-religious concert and a football tournament against discrimination, which is to take place over a weekend in mid-December.

The book "Peace among the People - Interreligious Action for Peace and Inclusive Communities" can be downloaded here.
