  • Ecumenical co-worker and coordinator for intercultural church project (m/f/x) in Germany

    Mission for us means to improve living conditions on the basis of our Christian belief. Faith, health, education, justice and peace: These are themes of relevance and importance for us, in Africa, Asian and Germany. Our projects and programs reflect this. In recent years we have developed into an international network of churches and diaconia with a modern, up-to-date profile.

    In the framework of the South-North Personnel Exchange of the UEM the Church of Lippe/Germany is looking for an:

    Ecumenical co-worker and coordinator for intercultural church project (m/f/x)

    The aim of the project is to link (church) congregations and groups of different origin, language, denominational and cultural background under the idea of being Church together in Lippe in all its diversity. For this a model of intercultural cooperation is to be tested which links the various actors while retaining their independence. A monthly intercultural worship service, cultural activities, a joint international choir and impulses in terms of mission and diaconal impulses are to be developed. Besides this some tasks are to be carried out in the context of the department for ecumenical relations and mission of the Lippe Church

    Your tasks:

    - developing of the intercultural project together with representatives of the participating congregations and groups

    - Organisational, administrative and public relation tasks in the management of the project

    - Networking with project members and other intercultural groups, municipalities etc., as well as contact with similar activities in other regions

    - Presentations of own church context in congregations of the Lippe church and advice for partnership groups

    - Participation in overall ecumenical activities of the Lippe Church

    Your qualifications:

    - Pedagogical education / skills

    - Experience in church work / theological knowledge

    - Organisational and administrative skills

    - Language skills in German (to be learned) and English

    - Intercultural competence

    - Preferably computer skills, use of networking tools

    - Experience in ecumenical partnership work is helpful

    The ability to communicate fluently in German is a requirement for the position. We expect that the elected candidate will start a language course already in Africa or Asia ending with a final exam. The successful completion of the B1 exam is prerequisite for the position.

  • Programme Officer (m/f/d)

In recent years we have developed into an international network of churches and diaconia with a modern, up-to-date profile.

    For our Asia Regional Office in Pematang Siantar (Indonesia) we are looking for a

    Programme Officer (m/f/x)

    The main tasks are to:
        • prepare and implement seminars and other activities in the region,
        • coordinate the Youth Work in the Region such as, among others, the North-South Volunteer- and South-South Exchange Programmes,
        • assist in the preparation of regional assemblies and meetings of the Executive Board
        • be in charge of all translations related to the work of the region, in particular for public relations and communication,
        • look after the office in the absence of the Deputy Executive Secretary Asia (Regional Office) and respond to emergencies.
        • assist in the conceptualization of the Mission Sparks (in print or electronic form), Newsletter and the use of UEM social media for information dissemination.

    What we expect:
        • active membership in a church, preferably in a UEM member church.
        • relevant qualification preferably in theology, development studies, regional studies or related fields
        • ability to conceptualize and analyse programmatic themes and issues
        • excellent skills in administration and management
        • ability to easily communicate and work in an international team
        • at least two years of experience in international and ecumenical programmes
        • excellent command of the English language and willing to learn Bahasa Indonesia
        • willingness to travel nationally and internationally

    The appointment will be for a period of three years with the possibility of extension for another three years term.
