To us, the memory of centuries past has not been lost. Our Written Archives and our Library collect and protect documents from the work of the UEM, its predecessor organizations (the Rhenish Mission Society and the Bethel Mission), and the UEM member churches, making these available to visitors.

The Archives and Museum Foundation is designed for visitors: our space in the mission house in Wuppertal offers a total of four reading areas, a photocopier and a microfilm reader. And of course, should you have any questions, we are glad to be of assistance.
Printed search listings are available for some of the holdings. In the near future there will also be search listings available on the Internet. The Written Archives are divided into seven groups/divisions:
The Library complements the Written Archives. It contains mission literature such as brochures and leaflets from the Rhenish and Bethel Missions, as well as many other German and non-German mission societies.
We also collect literature on UEM countries and UEM churches then and now: Cameroon, Congo, Namibia, Botswana, South Africa (only covering the era of the Rhenish Mission Society), Rwanda, Tanzania and Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Hong Kong and China, and the Philippines. Since 1990, we have collected some 220 documents (dissertations, masters theses, etc.) that have been based in part on sources in the Written Archives.
