Under the motto „church becomes a blessing“ an international partnership consultation between the Protestant Toba Batak Church (HBKP), the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR), the Evangelical Church of Westphalia (EKvW) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) took place from July 13 – 17, 2015 on Samosir island in North Sumatra (Indonesia). 60 delegates from eleven partnerships discussed for five days on future foci of their partnership work. At the end of the consultation the partners signed a joint partnership paper which stipulates the joint activities, the issue of money and the conception of joint projects for the next five years. At the beginning of the consultation representatives of the church circuits of Aachen (EKiR), of Humbang Habinsaran (HKBP) and of Kaskazini (ELCT-NWD) signed the very first trilateral partnership agreement of UEM. „This agreement is a milestone within the history of UEM“, estimated Ephorus Simarmata of HKBP, „the agreement reflects that we are in fact a communion of churches in Africa, Asia and Germany.“
