On 15 July 2020, eight students from Africa, Asia and Germany of the UEM scholarship programme met for a virtual meeting via zoom with Dr. Andar Parlindungan (Head of the Training & Empowerment Department) and Claudia Schletter (Department Assistant). The subject of the online meeting was the mutual exchange of information about the different dissertation topics, achieved successes in the course of the studies, but also about the challenges caused by corona, in short: people encouraged each other and gave each other important impulses. Furthermore, the meeting offered an ingenious opportunity for further networking among the scholarship holders and future alumni, most of whom are already working in responsible positions in the UEM member churches.

For example, Arjuna Peranginangin, who is currently pursuing a master's degree in English Applied Linguistics at Medan University, has been teaching English at the Yapentra School for the Visually Impaired of the GKPI in North Sumatra for 12 years.

Pastor Abel Dufitumukiza, who is pursuing a PhD in Education at Nairobi University, is currently working as a lecturer at the PIASS theological university of the Evangelical Anglican Church in Rwanda, while being a synodal of his church in Kigeme.

At only 23 years of age, Souljah Faller, who is currently completing her doctoral studies in law at the University of San Carlos in Cebu, Philippines, already holds a responsible position in the human rights department of her church, the United Church of Christ in the Philippines.
