Our international and interdisciplinary degree programs enable our students to exercise leadership functions economically, ethically and competently in diakonia and its institutions.

International Degree Program in Diaconal Management (IMADM)

Since 2011, UEM has offered the Master's degree program together with the Institute for Diaconal Science and Diaconal Management at Bielefeld University and international cooperating universities. Accredited with 120 CP, the English program imparts professional competence for teaching and management tasks in the diaconal field of work. The interdisciplinary structure of theology and economics, the close connection of practice and theory in changing intercultural contexts enables academically demanding as well as practice-oriented competencies: management, business administration, personnel management and business ethics, as well as the theological basics of diakonia and diakonia history are taught in fourteen modules. The modules take place alternately at the universities of the UEM members in Germany, Indonesia, South Africa, Tanzania and the Philippines - both in presence and online.

  • May/June 2024: Tumaini University Dar es Salaam College (TUDARCo), Tanzania
  • January/February 2025 : Jakarta Theological Seminary (STT Jakarta), Indonesia
  • September 2025 : Institute for Diaconal Science and Diaconal Management (IDWM), University of Bielefeld, Germany
