„Doctor of Diaconic Science“ for Jenny Purba

The pastor of the Simalungun Church (GKPS) has her place in the history of the International Master's Programme in Diaconic Management for sure: she did her Master in Diaconic Management (2013-2015). She then went on to complete her PhD. Since December last year, Jenny Purba is thus the first ever graduate of the International Master's Programme of the UEM with a doctoral degree - "Doctor of Diaconic Science".

Her dissertation is entitled "Global Diaconia and Palm Oil Industry in Indonesia - Embedded Economics for an Interdisciplinary Ecclesiological Model of Bridging State, Business and Society".

Professor Martin Büscher and Professor Dieter Becker had supervised her PhD.

Since 2011, the UEM, in cooperation with the Institute for Diaconic Science and Diaconic Management (IDM) at Bielefeld University provides the International Master Programme Diaconic Management.
