"We are particularly impressed that the UEM has understood that monetary giving is not a North-South one-way street, but a community task," says Pastor Wilbrod Mastai, Acting General Secretary of the Eastern and Coastal Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT/ECD), visibly proud.
This is the second time that the United Evangelical Mission has received a generous donation for the International Master's Degree in Diaconic Management. The impressive donation of 70,000 euros will make it possible to award two full scholarships and will be spread over a period of three years.
The fundraising campaign was launched by members of the Kimara congregation, a district of Dar es Salaam. Their church services are attended by thousands of people every Sunday. With this great commitment, they are setting an impressive example of solidarity within the UEM community.
During his stay at the UEM regional office in Dar es Salaam, UEM Managing Director Timo Pauler visited the ELCT/ECD headquarters. Together with Pastor Wilbrod Mastai and the deputy head of the Africa region of the UEM, Pastor Dr Ernest William Kadiva, he presents the donation certificate.
