Rebecca Fischer takes over the coordination of the Young Adult Network in the Germany Region of the UEM. She studied business administration in Münster and Madrid and got to know the Christian music business in Germany and the USA during internships in Tennessee and Hesse.
While working for a coal distributor in the Ruhr region, the Bochum native learned to work with corporations, laboratories and transportation companies before moving to the University of Health in Bochum in 2010. Here she managed the Career Service, which prepares students for professional life, and deepened her experience with international contexts and different ways of working.
The mother of two schoolchildren directs the Radio Bochum Choir and is a freelance trainer for choirs. For the past two years, she has been involved in African Diaspora networking in Germany, focusing on Safer Spaces, culture and empowerment. For her, Safer Spaces are events and spaces, e.g. in the church, that are created by People of Color for People of Color and serve to learn, live and heal together. Here PoC can share experiences among themselves without experiencing associated hurt, gaslighting, or defensiveness. For Rebecca Fischer, Safer Spaces are not only spaces, but also empowerment and the sensitization of the personal living and working environment. Therefore, important roles for her in UEM are also the education team, the regional service and GLEP contexts. The main focus, however, is the work in the Young Adult Network in the UEM.
We wish Rebecca Fischer success and all the best in her new work and God's blessings for the time to come.
