Welcome to Borkum

Last week, the Council of the UEM came together for its first meeting in 2024. The agenda included the report from the Management Team of UEM, the progress of the sustainable construction of the regional office in Dar Es Salaam, "New Home for Africa Region" and financial reports, as well as other routine topics and personnel decisions. The host church was the Evangelical Reformed Church, whose leadership, Dr Susanne Bei der Wieden, officially welcomed the council members on Sunday.  The Moderator of the UEM, Bishop Dr Abednego Keshomshahara and the UEM General Secretary, Rev Dr Andar Parlindungan, expressed their thanks for the warm welcome and hospitality at Haus Blinkufer on the North Sea island of Borkum.

The Council consists of 14 delegates to the General Assembly: the moderator, a youth representative and 4 delegates from each region Africa, Asia and Germany. The council meets twice a year under the chair of the moderator, since the General Assembly in 2022, Bishop Dr Abednego Keshomshahara.
