Rev. Ahlerich Ostendorp was re-elected as chairman of the German Region of UEM during the running German Regional Assembly in Nordhorn. The pastor of the Evangelical Reformed Church (ERK) was elected unanimously for a second term. New vice chairman is Bernd Müller from the Evangelical Church of Hesse-Waldeck (EKKW).

Joint Projects
The Regional Assembly also decided on several submissions on the main theme of the conference, "child poverty". Projects concerning this topic - especially when carried out by several churches jointly - shall be supported, in Africa and Asia as well as in Germany. In 2014 delegates from all three regions will meet in Wuppertal, Germany, for the next General Assembly, to discuss this topic further.

40 delegates and 30 guests have met for the 16th German Regional Assembly. The assembly closes this afternoon with a worship.
