"To do nothing would have been unimaginable": Michée Wabomundu takes action to support his fellow congolese people.
Porridge for a lot of people: Together the youth of Goma have initiated a first infrastructure for the displaced people. Still, professional aid by CBCA is needed.
Our former volunteer Michée Wabomundu is currently in the Kanyarutchinya region (Nyiragongo area), 10 km outside the city of Goma, in the DR Congo. Together with others, he is helping at least 5,000 people who fled the violence in Rutshuru in the North Kivu region.
Since the arrival of the displaced people more than three weeks ago, this group of young volunteers has organized a daily meal consisting of porridge and bread for the displaced people, especially for children and vulnerable women. The food aid is intended to alleviate some of the suffering while waiting for adequate humanitarian assistance. With the funds available, made up of their own contributions and donations from other volunteers, the young people in Goma manage to feed the displaced people every day.
Michée Wabomundu says it was unimaginable for him to do nothing while his fellow human beings suffered. We thank him and the other volunteers from Goma for their great work and for the example they set for the VEM communion. The UEM and four of its members have supported the local member church CBCA* with 52,000 Euros to strengthen the humanitarian activities of the CBCA.
