Next Monday, April 24, 2023, marks the tenth anniversary of the collapse of the textile factory in Rana Plaza / Bangladesh. More than 1000 workers died; many thousands were injured. This disaster is still a symbol for the numerous human and labor rights violations in the textile factories of this world. 

As a member of the Clean Clothes Campaign (CCC), the United Evangelical Mission invites you to remember the victims of this disaster on this day, e.g. with a devotion or with memorial actions in front of clothing stores and in public places. There are plans for a minute's silence in front of clothing stores or actions in which the names of the victims are read out or written.

Sign online petition on the Bangladesh Accord!

One year after the collapse of the Rana Plaza textile factory, the Bangladesh Accord (Agreement on Building Safety and Fire Protection) was signed by fashion companies. The Accord represented the world's first legally binding agreement of its kind. Since 2013, safety inspections have been conducted, repairs overseen, and workers trained in safety. This agreement has improved the working situation for many millions of people, but it expires at the end of October 2023.
