Encouraging through Pantomime - under this slogan the Mime Art for Life e.V. started a "Encouragement Tour" through Germany and also visited the UEM in Wuppertal.
Impressively and in a very special playful way the 5 actors from South Africa showed the worldwide and immediately understandable art of pantomime. In their workshops, children, young people and adults, with and without disabilities, learn to express what they have observed, experienced, felt and thought without words.
The group, led by Ray Mbatsane, says of itself: "We want to remind people in Africa, Asia and Germany to remember their own strengths and humor even in difficult times, and to give each other support. We expect of this initiative to strengthen of the solidarity in the Christian and ecumenical area over borders, language barriers and differences in the cultures.
The intercultural pantomime project was initiated by the UEM member churches, the Otjiwarongo church district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN) and the Wesel church district of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR) in cooperation with the internationally successful pantomime Nemo (Wolfgang Neuhausen). In 2022, the international partnership project has won the UEM Partnership Award.
Until September 24th the group is on tour in Germany. More information:
