“My Faith is the Source”

From his work with the Botswana Council of Churches he already knows work with churches: Bakang Moseki at the UEM Regional Office Asia in Pematang Siantar. Photo by: UEM

“My faith is the foundation of my hopes, resilience, and purpose.”, Mr Bakang Moseki says. He is the new Project and Fundraising Officer in the Asia Regional Office of the United Evangelical Mission (UEM), located in Pematang Siantar (Indonesia).

United Action: Fundraising together

One important aspect of his work will be the fundraising campaign of UEM in the regions Asia and Africa: United Action (UA) symbolizes the common aspiration of all UEM members churches, to work together to improve people’s living conditions. In South Africa the term Ubuntu is commonly used while in Indonesia they use the term Gotong Royong.

Bakang Moseki will coordinate and facilitate UA in Asia, working with the UA Coordinators of each church, as well as with church leadership. His role is to accompany the projects initiated by the member churches, from advising on project applications and presenting them to the Project Committee through to evaluating the results and analysing their impact.

Each relationship is an opportunity

Born in Ramotswa (Botswana), Moseki holds a bachelor’s degree in project management and a diploma in community development. He has worked among others with UEM member church ELCB* and came to UEM because of its visions: “UEM aligns perfectly with my passion for people, using faith as a driving force, a platform and motivation to do better and to be better.”

Moseki, who is also a member of ELCB, is currently getting to know his working partners in the Asia Region: “Each relationship presents itself with it an opportunity to learn, to teach and to build one another as well as the church of God.” In this work, his faith has been guiding his thoughts and actions, “but more than anything my faith is the source of my comfort, strength and inspiration”, he says.

Up until now, Moseki hasn’t had much free time, he says: “But my plans are to thoroughly explore all that Sumatra and the entire region have to offer.”

We wish Bakang Moseki all the best and God’s blessing for his work at UEM.
