Angelika Veddeler is the new Executive Secretary for the German Region of the United Evangelical Mission. The UEM Council voted for her unanimously. The 53-year old, experienced UEM Co-Worker will begin to work in her new position in February 2012. Angelika Veddeler suceeds Jutta Beldermann in office, who took over the responsibility for the theological education of co-workers in the v. Bodelschwingh Foundations Bethel. Angelika Veddeler has been previously working for the UEM as the head of the Centre for Mission and Diaconia and as the head of UEM's Programme on International Diaconia. She knows UEM well, having been responsible for the Anglophone Africa from 1998 until 2008. She was Deputy General Secretary from 2001 to 2008 and reponsible for UEM's HIV and Aids work from 2001 to 2008. Her missionary work began at the "Norddeutsche Mission" in Bremen, who sent her to work at a school of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Ghana for several years. Mrs Veddelr is married with two children. Dr. Jochen Motte, Executive Secretary for Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation, was elected Deputy General Secretary and succeeds Jutta Beldermann in this position. The 49-year-old theologian has been working for human rights, peace and environmental protection for 20 years.
