The UEM member, the v. Bodelschwingh Foundations Bethel, has a new Chair of the Executive Board: Pastor Dr Bartolt Haase was officially installed on 30 January 2026 during a church service at Zion Church in Bielefeld. The service at Zion Church in Bielefeld-Bethel was led by Dr Adelheid Ruck-Schröder, President of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia, a member of the UEM communion.
Pastor Dr Bartolt Haase: “We accompany people through all phases of life.”
In his sermon on Psalm 113:3, “From the rising of the sun to its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised”, Dr Haase spoke about Bethel’s core convictions:
“We believe that every beginning is set by God and every ending is carried by his love. That is why we accompany people through all phases of their lives – from birth, through services for children and young people, for families and adults, to care for the elderly and the dying.”
Bethel stands up for the rights of disadvantaged people and for peaceful coexistence. “We live diversity and shape community,” said Dr Haase. “We do this for people, so that every life can form a coherent arc from beginning to end, despite all the breaks, crises, illnesses and uncertainties that life brings.”
UEM General Secretary speaks a Votum
UEM General Secretary Rev. Dr Andar Parlindungan also attended the installation service and spoke a votum. His participation underlined the close ties between the UEM communion and Bethel.
“As a member of the United Evangelical Mission, Bethel holds a special place on our shared journey. It was a true honour for me to take part in the installation of Pastor Dr Bartolt Haase.”
