The diverse mix of different thoughts and cultures - that's what Rev. Yoram Karusya appreciates about the UEM. He was ordained in 2002 in the ELCT-KAD*, a member church of the UEM. Since he started working as an ecumenical coworker in the church district of Gladenbach in Hesse-Nassau from 2006 to 2012, ecumenical work with German congregations has never quite left him. He organized study trips, seminars, youth camps, and got to know German culture and religiosity. He is particularly interested in the question of how people can focus on the good things in life.

What particularly appeals to him about the regional service of the UEM is the strong bond between the employees in their service to the congregations. He already knows many of his colleagues and has worked with them - a good prerequisite for his work with various congregations and their ecumenical partnerships. As a pastor, spiritual care is also one of his main areas, as well as celebrating church services: "Once I haven't held a church service for three months, that does feel a bit strange," the 48-year-old smiles.

He will move to the Lower Rhine region in January next year, and his family will also move to Germany after the Tanzanian school year ends in December 2023. In his free time, Mr. Karusya rides a bicycle and plays soccer, and he also enjoys reading.

We are happy to welcome him to the Regional Service of the UEM and wish him all the best and God's blessing for his work in ecumenism.
