New Programm Officer for the UEM Africa Region

UEM warmly welcomes the new Programme Officer in the Africa Region and wishes him God’s blessings and a successful integration in the work structure for the benefit of the UEM member churches. Mr Zakaria Mnkai is the new Programme Officer in UEM Africa Region office as from the 1st of August 2017. He was born in Lutindi village, North Eastern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Tanzania. He is a socio-economic Dvelopment programme management advisor with back ground on education, community development and corporate management field. He performed different roles and responsibilities in church as a diocesan clerk and member to Steering committee and other churches organs for 5 years. The main roles he took were to take and keep all meetings records and give advice regarding socio-economic development. Being advisor to youths in his Parish, he worked with youth to mobilize them to establish income generating activities groups and clubs which could assist them discussing various peer matters and eventually add value to their daily Christianity life. Mr Mnkai worked with World Vision Tanzania and other civil societies as a Programme Facilitator and Manager in different periods for more than 6 years. The main roles and responsibilities he performed included Planning, organizing, implementing, supervision, and producing progressive reports to different reporting levels. He has experience on leading different projects like Livelihood, Advocacy, community development empowerment through community members’ involvement and mobilization to both available local and donors’ resources to improve house hold wellbeing. His vision as a UEM co-worker is to strengthen integrated programmes within regions by using participatory methods which will help churches to establish their own bench mark, plan, implement and make their own assessment to measure how far they have moved in all sphere of socio-economic development realm. His desire is to see church members is creating opportunities utilize available resources to reduce poverty, improve people’s lives by applying the UEM Corporate Identity in its five pillar: Evangelisation, Diakonia, Advocacy, Development and Partnership.  I can do everything through him who gives me strength (Philippians 4:13), concludes Mr. Zakaria Mnkai.
