[Translate to Englisch:] Mit dem Boot versorgen Mitarbeiter der Methodistischen Kirche in Sri Lanka die von der Flutkatastrophe betroffenen Menschen.
New rainfalls put people of Sri lanka in danger. After the heavy floodings three weeks ago the situation seemed to ease, but new rainfalls in the past few days made the situation dangerous again, Dr Albert Jebanesan said, the president of the Methodist Church of Sri Lanka (MC-SL, a UEM member church). In some areas more than 232 mm rain fell, more than 800,000 people are affected by the floods. And the worst could be still to come: More than 260,000 acres of crop were destroyed. With € 30,000 of emergency relief coming from the UEM, the Evangelical Church of the Rhineland and the Evangelical Church of Westphalia, the MC-SL could already supply emergency aid packages to almost 5,000 families. Food and fresh water ist needed most as a lot of weels were sontaminated by the floods. To be able to further support the MC-SL's emergency relief operations, the UEM asks for donations.
