Peace prize of OENZ goes to Rwandese NGO "AMI"

The Ecumenical Network on Central Africa (OENZ) has awarded its 5th peace Price to Rwandese NGO "Association Modeste et Innocent" (AMI) . AMI engages for a sustainable peace, a peaceful solving of conflicts, overcoming of Traumata and against the splits in the society of Rwanda. AMI coordinator Jean Baptiste Bizimana received the Price during the Rwanda conference in Wuppertal. "With this price we want to raise awareness for the Great Lakes Region and its people", Dr Jochen Motte, UEM Executive Secretary and speaker of the OENZ coordination committee said. "And we want to present a different picture of Africa, not only about poverty and violence, but about African organisations who effectively work for peace and reconciliation." AMI's goal has always been to unite the society, Jean Baptiste Bizimana stressed. The organisation not only supports reconciliation work but engages in fighting poverty as well. If life circumstances improve, the reconciliation process profits, Mr Bizimana said. "This price encourages us to continue our work. It is still a long way to go."
