Philippines: Church helps, but running out of relief supplies

The United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP) have started to distribute relief supplies in several cities on Leyte Island. EVen in the destroyed city of Tacloban volunteers have begun with the relief work, the UCCP told the UEM today. Supplies get short, though, because streets, ports and runways are still out of order. The island of Cebu was severely hit as well. Whole villages have been razed to the ground. Many churches have been destroyed and cannot be used as evacuation centres any more. The readiness to help is big, nationally and internationally. German and Asian member churches have already sent great contributions. The UCCP youth organisation has called upon its members so donate today's income for the victims of the typhoon.
