(27.08.2010) More than 200 people have disappeared in the Philippines from 2001 und 2010. It's totally unclear what happend to them and for years their families have been waiting for a sign of life. The German action network „Aktionsbündnis Menschenrechte – Philippinen“  (of which Uem is a member of), wants to ensure that they are not forgotten. Even after the election of Benigno Aquino as the new president of the Philippines, the human rights situation in the country has not really improved, Dr. Jochen Motte, head of UEM's JPIC department, says. The United Church of Christ in the Philippines (UCCP), a UEM member church, has submitted several reports of murders and human rights' violations in the last weeks. We demand a halt to that and a complete clarification of all cases of disappeared people in the Philippines, Elmar Noé says, chairman of the Aktionsbündnis Menschenrechte – Philippinen. Members of the „Aktionsbündnis Menschenrechte – Philippinen“ are Amnesty International, Brot für die Welt, Diakonie,  Evangelischer Entwicklungsdienst (EED), MISEREOR, Missio-München, philippinenbüro e.V. im Asienhaus ans the United Evangelical Mission (UEM). The action network wants to improve the human rights' situation in the Philippines by doing press and lobby work in Germany.
