Rev. Dr. Andar Parlindungan new UEM General Secretary

"I thank God that the UEM Council has elected me today as the new General Secretary, who comes from Asia for the first time. We as the UEM will continue to show our missionary commitment as the body of Christ to pray, serve and praise God together. The internationalization of the UEM has been confirmed with this election and the way of justice, peace and integrity of creation will continue to be visible in this leadership period in cooperation with all UEM members in Africa, Asia and Germany," said the UEM Secretary General-designate.

The international Council of the United Evangelical Mission (UEM) is currently meeting in Negombo, Sri Lanka. At the top of the agenda has been the election of a follower for the current General Secretary, Rev. Volker Martin Dally, who has led the UEM since February 2016 and will retire at the end of his term at the beginning of next year.

With a large majority, the council decided today in favor of Rev. Dr. Andar Parlindungan. The 47-year-old theologian and father of three children comes from Indonesia's largest Protestant church, HKBP*, a member church of the UEM and he is currently a member of the UEM Management Team; here he has been responsible for international education work as head of the department "Global Program I".

The UEM Communion of Churches warmly congratulates Rev. Dr. Andar Parlindungan. We wish him much success and God's blessing for his new task!
