The Ibuga Parish of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, Northwest Dicoese, was hit by a severe thunderstorm last weekend. The heavy rain, accompanied by a typhoon, left the community weeping for their homes, food and destructed environment. The rains lasted for four hours but the magnitude of destruction was heavy.
The Parish pastor Rev. Edward Mutashobya reports about 125 residential houses being unroofed and about 670 banana plantations being damaged. The Peasant's Cooperative society stole at Bulembo village was unroofed and six rooms of one Public Primary School as well. The 95 percent of Lutheran Church members in the Bulembo congregations were affected by the adversity. In the entire society, most of the families were evacuated, and they are seeking refuge to their relatives in neighbouring villages. Injured people are being taken care of at the Ndolage Hospit
