From 26 to 27 September, the Deputy General Secretary of the United Evangelical Mission (UEM), Dr Jochen Motte, visited the Human Rights Council and other human rights institutions of the United Nations (UN) in Geneva, accompanied by coordinators of human rights-related networks.

Together with other representatives of member organisations of the German Forum Human Rights, including Kindernothilfe and Brot für die Welt, they held talks with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Permanent Mission of the United Nations in Geneva, Dr Katharina Stasch. During their visit, they also talked to representatives of the UN Human Rights Council and of NGO’s involved in human rights at UN level.

Recommendations of the UEM for the protection of human rights, especially in Indonesian West Papua, in the Philippines and in the Democratic Republic of Congo, were presented to Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock by the Human Rights Forum on 28 August 2023 in Berlin. "It is a concern of ours that our recommendations are taken up and actively addressed in particular by the German Foreign Office at the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva," explains Jochen Motte, who is also a member of the coordination circle of the Forum Human Rights and head of the working group "UN Foreign Policy and Human Rights Council".
