The Church President of the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) Pastor Dr André Bokundoa Bo-Likabe and his wife Christine DAKI Bokundoa from the Democratic Republic of Congo were guests at the Mission House in Wuppertal yesterday. He and his wife had come to Germany on the occasion of the ceremonial introduction of Dr. Jean-Gottfried Mutombo as regional pastor of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia.

The programme at the Mission House in Wuppertal included an exchange on the current situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo with VEM board members and VEM General Secretary Volker Martin Dally. "The human rights situation remains a major challenge for the community. Especially in the east and central parts of the country, violence is on the rise and armed groups have exacerbated the humanitarian crisis," said Pastor Dr André Bokundoa Bo-Likabe. He has led nearly 95 member churches representing more than 40 million Protestant believers in the Democratic Republic of Congo since 2017. Pastor Dr André Bokundoa Bo-Likabe thanked the UEM for the invitation to this official visit and emphasised how important this visit to the UEM had been and how much the ECC was interested in further cooperation with the international UEM community. The ECC, based in Kinshasa, has been a member of the UEM since 2008.
