766 parishes, organized into 38 church districts, make up the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR). This means that 2.82 million parishioners belong to the Rhineland church, making it the second largest of the 20 Protestant regional churches in Germany. The church territory extends between Emmerich and Saarbrücken over parts of the four federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Hesse. The congregations and church districts of the EKiR maintain numerous partnerships within the UEM Communion of Churches. Since April 1, 2022, the Regional Service of the UEM offers ecumenical and developmental grassroot work in the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland.
