The Evangelical Church in West Papua (GKI-TP) was founded in 1855 and has been independent since 1956. The church has 412,000 members.

468 pastors (including 199 women and 269 men), 197 vicars, 137 evangelists, 325 preachers, 88 administrative staff, 250 social workers and several hundred community helpers work for the GKI-TP.
