This cry of distress from Psalm 31:15 is the title of this year's UEM Human Rights Action.
The terrible war in Ukraine, with thousands of victims, including many children and women, and millions of refugees, has brought home to people in Europe the cries for protection from hostility and persecution. People from our member churches in Africa, on the other hand, have addressed the question to European member churches: "Why do you see this as a turning of the times? Here - in the Democratic Republic of Congo - war and violence have been everyday life in large parts of the country for many years."
As a communion of churches, we see it as our duty to stand by people who have been victims of injustice and violence. Therefore, we support human rights projects and ask for your support.
We ask you to keep alive in your churches and congregations the awareness of why it is today more urgent than ever that we as Christians, following Jesus, stand up for law and justice, for human rights worldwide and in our own country.
