The Karo-Batak Christian Protestant Church (GBKP) in Indonesia emerged in 1890 from the work of the Dutch Missionary Society and has been independent since 1941. The GBKP has about 260,000 members and employs 194 pastors, 36 evangelists and 23 vicars.
