• Serve as the main contact for advocacy with UEM member churches in Africa, guiding planning and implementation of initiatives.
• Strengthen the capacity of church workers, human rights defenders, and communities through advocacy, mobilization, and conflict-sensitive training.
• Coordinate regional advocacy projects, ensuring alignment with UEM priorities, monitoring, and reporting.
• Build and maintain partnerships with civil society, faith networks, and international bodies; represent UEM on advocacy platforms.
• Support member churches in engaging decision-makers and contributing to campaigns, statements, and policy dialogues.
• Monitor regional developments and provide timely analysis to inform advocacy responses.
• Document lessons learned and success stories to enhance knowledge exchange and UEM communications.
• Promote dialogue on climate justice, sustainability, and equity with churches, civil society, and international partners.
• Deep understanding of African political, social, and church contexts.
• Strong commitment to justice, human rights, peace, climate action, and inclusion.
• Excellent interpersonal, intercultural, and facilitation skills; able to build trust and navigate complex dynamics.
• University degree in Law, Human Rights, Social Sciences, Theology/Development Studies, Peace & Conflict Studies, Political Science, or similar.
• 3–5 years of experience in advocacy, human rights, community mobilisation, or church-related justice work.
• Proven experience in training, capacity-building, and networking with diverse stakeholders.
• Fluent in English; willingness to travel frequently within Africa and beyond.
• Knowledge of ecumenical networks, faith-based organisations, Kiswahili and/or French, or engagement with human rights mechanisms is an advantage
